John Elliot provided forty illustrations and the front cover design for On Antarctica. John is an accomplished illustrator, artist, and film-maker. He has written and illustrated articles for American Artist Magazine, Quarto Books, and is a contributing editor on The Artist’s Magazine. He illustrated the popular Reader’s Digest Sketching School, and he is staff illustrator for Classic New Jersey Magazine. Among his commissions are works for Ronald Reagan, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, and Katherine Hepburn.

Fiennes, a Baronet, served in the British Special Air Service (SAS) prior to becoming the “world’s greatest living explorer” according to the “Guinness Book of World Records”.
